Terms of Use
1. What Slate is
Slate (ontheslate.au) is a free listing of markets, festivals, and other public events you can attend in the cities we cover. We compile listings from public sources and check them regularly, but we do not run the events.
2. Accuracy — please read this one
Event details change: times move, weather cancels things, organisers make late calls. Each listing shows the date we last checked it. We do not guarantee any listing is current, complete, or correct, and you should confirm important details (especially travel-worthy ones) with the organiser via the official link provided.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on a listing, including travel costs or disappointment when an event is changed or cancelled.
Australian Consumer Law: nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or equivalent state legislation that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability can be limited, it is limited to re-supplying the relevant service.
3. Your use of Slate
You may use Slate for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not:
- interfere with or disrupt the service, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it;
- scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract listings or subscriber data by automated means without our written permission;
- use the submission or report features to send unlawful, misleading, defamatory, or abusive content;
- misrepresent an event, or submit reports you know to be false.
4. Submissions
When you submit an event (or a correction), you:
- confirm the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it;
- grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, edit, reformat, and distribute that information as part of Slate (including in our newsletter and social posts);
- accept that we decide, at our discretion, what is listed. Submission does not guarantee publication, and listings can be edited or removed at any time.
We do not accept payment for listings, and payment never affects whether or how an event appears.
5. Third-party links
Listings link to official event sites, maps, and ticketing pages. Those sites are not ours; their content and terms are their operators’ responsibility.
6. Intellectual property
The Slate name, design, descriptions, and compilation are ours (or licensed to us). Event facts themselves belong to no one; our expression of them does. You may share individual listings and share cards freely — that’s what they’re for.
7. Newsletter
Subscribing means you agree to receive our weekly email for your chosen city (or only major weekends, if you select that option). Every email includes one-click unsubscribe, honoured immediately. See the Privacy Policy for how your email address is handled.
8. Takedowns and complaints
If you believe a listing infringes your rights, is inaccurate, or should be removed, contact hello@ontheslate.au. Include the listing name and the issue. We respond promptly and keep records of requests and outcomes.
9. Changes and termination
We may update these terms, change the service, or discontinue it. Material changes will be noted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Continued use after a change is acceptance of it.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
